About
I am Peter Kennedy and this is a place where I post my thoughts about whatever takes my fancy, mostly politics, economics and comedy. I took my honours undergrad degree in politics and International Relations & will hopefully be starting a masters in global political economy in the autumn. I’d encourage people to leave comments, whether in a agreement or disagreement with whatever I spew from my word hole.
I don’t blog here alone and am joined by Stephanie Shimko who has similar areas of interests as I do and holds a unique view of life as an American living and working in the United Arab Emirates, and formerly South Korea. She has kept engaging and successful blogs of her own in the past, but restricted time for blogging has lead her to decide to contribute here. Keep an eye out for her posts.
Check out the contribution section to see how you can join me in creating this compendium of thoughts on subjects of interest.

I really enjoyed your comment on the Will Rhodes Portmanteau site regarding the progress of Nordic nations. I want to invite you to The New Agenda website. We are trying to build a network of women (and supportive men) who believe in gender parity in government.
Peter, I am glad I found your blog and look forward to more posts. I also look forward to seeing posts from Stephanie. I won’t be looking back at your past posts as I am constrained for time.
I feel that, politically, we are pretty far apart on ideology but it is hard to learn new things by only talking to people who share the same viewpoints, nivht wahr?
I am new to WordPress and still trying to figure things out. For instance, if I wanted to know when you make a new post, is there a way that I can configure my account to be automatically notified?
My educational background is in the social sciences with emphasis on political science but well rounded in the other disciplines as well.
Subscribe to the blog with an RSS feed. I know that’s what you’re supposed to do, but I don’t know how to do it myself.
I think you just click on the little orange box in the top right corner of the address bar in Firefox… I’m not sure how to do it in IE 7 as I try to use that crappy browser as little as possibl!
Kennedy, I was wondering if you would like to exchange links?
Kennedy does the donating button ever work? I am thinking of adding this to a different site that I have.
Mel, the short answer… no!
Although it seems I get a lot less hits than you, so you should probably try it if you’re getting a thousands a month. A number of blogs I’ve read have this feature, but they’re usually written by pros in some field who keep a blog… I think some people may take umbrage with the whole idea of donations for personal blogs. I’m not completely sure tho, so give it a go.
I see nothing wrong with it. A buck a yen a sou or a pound, money makes the world go round. I thought about it for a bit after I saw that you did it. Maybe we can talk about how you set up such a thing. I’m still thinking on it.
Cheers for the comments dude. I agree with what you had to say, and you keep an interesting blog here. I’ll be returning here to read more. Keep it up.
One of my problems with these marches, is their lack of leadership or coherence. For example, if i’d have attended the march, i’d have disagreed with the Communists there, as much as I do with the current system. There needs to be leadership, something new, something that pulls everyone together, rather than a plethora of “demands” that solve nothing. Until it happens, the marches will be largely ignored. Calls for change will be largely ignored. It’s the reason we’re now at a stage where Labour can destroy an economy through lack of regulation….. I always thought that was a Tory “thing”. There is no viable opposition. Climate Change wont be dealt with significantly under the next Tory Government, nor will there be the regulation to the financial institutions needed to prevent this kind of mess happening again. It’ll all go back to how it was before. We’ll rewind to the late eighties. We’ll be hearing how “wonderful” Thatcherism was, all over again.

Is that okay?
haven’t seen you in a while dude
Pete, it’s sad that we haven’t seen you around for going on a month and a half now. I hope that everything is o.k. and that you are well.
You know that you are always welcome at the Aerie. I hope to see you soon. In the meantime I will be removing the “Run” from my blogroll for inactivity.
Take care mate.
